2019 is the year of “Grandeza”, the stunning debut solo album by São Paulo’s @sessa.sessa.sessa, known for co-founding acclaimed psych-rock group Garotas Suecas.

The album gets a deliberate minimalist treatment that defines the songwriting history of Brazil, but it’s rarely found in contemporary Brazilian music, which Sessa now joins as one of its most promising new voices.

Over mostly acoustic songs, Sessa sings in Portuguese with visceral, sensual lyrics in line with Caetano Veloso, Tom Jobim, and Arthur Verocai, while touching on cosmic jazz, psych, and Tropicália. “Grandeza” was released in the United States early this year in digital and vinyl formats via @boiledrecords, followed by US tour with performances at @desertdaze_official in California and @brasilsummerfest in NYC.

A gorgeous, captivating record highly recommended to anyone enjoying Brazilian music ?
