As part of hybrid rap-rock group SpeedFreaks and glorious rasta-funk fusion band Planet Hemp, Black Alien was a pioneering force on Brazil’s hip-hop scene in the 1990s.
After his landmark solo album ‘Babylon By Gus Vol.1’ in 2004, a hiatus took place in his career until he got sober, attended rehab and returned with ‘Babylon By Gus Vol. II’ in 2015.
With his loose, melodic trademark flow still as warm and infectious as ever, he emerged in 2019 as a wiser, more soulful character as he entered his mid-40s celebrating his sobriety on ‘Abaixo de Zero: Hello Hell’. Highly praised by the critics and really worth listening to ? @blackalienofficial
