Altar is a floating vacation home on São Paulo’s Joanópolis dam, considered as one of the cleanest in the country.
São Paulo may be a city with a penchant for five-star hotels—many with eye-popping architecture and upscale amenities, and yet, the most exciting place to stay there right now may be a waterfront home with the perks of a boat. Open in 2020, Altar is a unique floating vacation home located only an hour and half from the capital, lying at the foot of the Mantiqueira Mountain, on the Joanópolis dam, considered as one of the cleanest in the country.
Founded by Rodrigo Martins (Nuts Agency) and Facundo Guerra, CEO of Vegas Group and known as the “King of São Paulo’s Nightlife”, this vacation home is rapidly becoming one of the most popular rentals on Airbnb.
Designed by SysHaus, the place was conceived to blend with nature, using technology to help guests to take a break from the digital world. The house runs on solar-powered autonomous systems that can provide fresh water, total energy needs, waste and water treatment.
Altar has a usable area of 38 m2, plus an external deck area of 26m2., totaling a gross area of 64m2. It includes a double bedroom, living room, bathroom, a kitchen integrated into the living room, and a fireplace.
The local experience counts with the support of Fazenda Pedra Alta, a farm by the dam where guests can go for trips on foot or horseback, or tasting the best of regional gastronomy, including award-winning cheeses, homemade beers, organic produce and much more.
